Inflation Induced by Vacuum Energy and Graceful Exit from it
Motivated by brane cosmology we solve the Einstein equations with a time dependent cosmological constant. Assuming that at an early epoch the vacuum energy scales as 1/logt, we show that the universe passes from a fast growing phase (inflation) to an expanding phase in a natural way.
متن کاملInflation: A graceful entrance from Loop Quantum Cosmology
The evolution of a scalar field is explored taking into account the presence of a background fluid in a positively curved Universe in the framework of loop quantum cosmology. Though the mechanism that provides the initial conditions for inflation extensively studied in the literature, is still available in this setup, it demands that the initial kinetic energy of the field be comparable to the ...
متن کاملGraceful exit from a stringy landscape via MSSM inflation
The cosmological evolution of the string landscape is expected to consist of multiple stages of old inflation with large cosmological constant ending by tunneling. Old inflation has a well known graceful exit problem as the observable universe becomes empty, devoid of any entropy. Simultaneously, in the quest for reheating the right degrees of freedom, it is important that the final stage of in...
متن کاملHawking Radiation as a Mechanism for Inflation
Abstract The Friedman-Robertson-Walker (FRW) space-time exhibits particle creation similar to Hawking radiation of a black hole. In this essay we show that this FRW Hawking radiation leads to an effective negative pressure fluid which can drive an inflationary period of exponential expansion in the early Universe. Since the Hawking temperature of the FRW space-time decreases as the Universe exp...
متن کاملGraceful Exit in Extended Inflation and Implications for Density Perturbations
Two qualitatively different modes of ending superluminal expansion are possible in extended inflation. One mode, different from the one envoked in most extended models to date, easily avoids making big bubbles that distort the cosmic microwave background radiation (CMBR). In this mode, the spectrum of density fluctuations is found to be scale-free, P (k) ∝ k, where n might lie anywhere between ...
